Although Negaard has received special recognition for his wildlife art, he is interested in a wide diversity of subject matter ranging from trains to complex imaginary interior spaces. He also works in a variety of media. Negaard has created logos for many area businesses and designed Watertown's city flag. He is a frequent choice for special-edition prints for the Lake Area Zoological Society and painted the background for a major exhibit at the local zoo's new Exploration Center.
